Partner with the MESA Director to achieve the objectives of the Maryland MESA (Math, Engineering, Science Achievement) Program. Prepare proposals and reports to secure funding from sponsors. Gather data and conduct analysis. Work with the school coordinators and superintendants to ensure that all data is collected, accurate, and up-to-date for these purposes. Identify, develop and implement new programs/competitions that coincide with state academic standards.
Write the curriculum for the programs, identify related costs, resources and materials to implement, write instructions/training manual, and facilitate training when needed. Identify and/or establish development opportunities and resources for MESA teachers, coordinators, and students. Communicate and/or implement opportunities. Serve as the Maryland MESA Central Office representative for appointed school districts and collaborate with the MESA Director to promote the consistency of the school based MESA Program throughout the regions.
This includes attendance at evening regional teacher meetings which involves networking, establishment of relationships, learning about the teachers¿ activities, and providing direction to the teachers in areas related to the MESA program. Serve as a liaison between MESA USA, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), other State Aided Institutions (SAI), and Maryland MESA's participants and families. Become familiar with all aspects of the MESA Program including the grant reporting, budget system, event planning and facilitation, marketing, maintenance of the Maryland MESA website, and interaction with participants, teachers, volunteers, and sponsors. Partner with the MESA Operations Coordinator and MESA Director to cross-train on all aspects of the Program.

Requirements |
Required: B.S. in math, science, engineering, education/administration, or a related field. At least 5 years of professional experience including at least 4 years working within the school system or in an educational setting. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate at many levels (e.g., students, parents, teachers, business partners, government representatives, school system executives, etc.).
Excellent organization and time management skills. The ability to work independently, as well as with a team. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially MS Word and Excel. Willingness to travel in-state and out-of-state.
Desired: Combination of technical degree and education/administration degree. Experience working with K-12 outreach/academic preparation programs. Experience with the public education systems and aligning activities with classroom curriculum and state and national education objectives. Experience with proposal writing and grant reporting processes including the development of educational program objectives, outputs, outcomes, and impacts.
Experience working with children. Experience working with minority and/or female outreach programs. Familiarity with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and local, state, and federal legislation relative to STEM education. Good overall computer skills, with experience with databases and website management.
